Busy, Busy
Yeah, after grading about 70 projects, dealing with mundane data entry and cutting about a million pieces of paper, I`ve about had it. Fortunately, it`s basically spring break now. So, all I have to do is grade about 280 tests and I`m done....
So, that`s what I`ve been up to lately. It seems like a long time since I`ve posted. I just couldn`t stare at the computer too much more after staring at it for so long at work. But, I`m mostly better now. YEAH! SPRING BREAK! Hmmm. We`ll see if I do actually go somewhere.
Trade Offs
So, I was just realizing that it`s finally starting to warm up around here. The past few weeks have been about 10 degrees Celsius at my place or less. But, this week it`s been more like 14 or 15 degrees. Quite a difference. The trade off is that it`s been raining for the past 3 or 4 days. It`s warm, but I really don`t care want to do anything `cause it`s so rainy. I just want to sleep.
The good news is that all of 5th period, I took a nap. It was nice. Gotta love sleeping on the job. It was either that or study more Japanese which I`ve been doing so much of that I`m not retaining enough of it. Don`t want to waste my time cramming what won`t fit. Seriously.
I want to study more. My books finally came in the mail. Oh glorious day!!!! My savior...I was getting sick of only studying grammar. I like studying the fun stuff. Such as how to say "I got really trashed." Or "I was laying around the house like a huge slacker." Useful stuff. Not that crap they taught me in college--I hate keigo. I used to be good at it too. Thankfully, it`s being replaced by more useful, colorful, and fun things. 大阪べん rules!!!!
I wonder if I`m experiencing a fried food hangover. I ate sooooooo much deep fried shit last night for dinner. It was amazing. Nothing like watching the Olympics and eating something that could result in a heart attack. YES! And I loved every second of it too. Fun to pretend that you`re the one exercising and instead stuffing your face with fried meat and potatoes. Uh-huh. That`s a great trade off....
J Pop
Yeah, it's addictive. I still can only sing along to the English lyrics, but it's a start. At karaoke, I can sometimes sing along if the song is slow enough. In other words, if the lyrics appear on screen slowly enough for me to follow along. I don't have anything memorized yet, but soon enough I just might. Keep in mind that I'm terrible at remembering lyrics in English, so imagine me trying to do it in Japanese. HAHAHA. I feel bad for my friends that take me to karaoke.
Currently, just watching J tv and trying to catch up on who's who in the music world here. I'm really clueless. So, we'll see how much j pop culture I can remember. I'm not good at this in English either. I never know who is who in movies, never remember lyrics, song names, artist names, and so forth. You get the drift. Same with sports. In fact, a student told me who was in this year's Super Bowl. I didn't even know....And he was disappointed when I told him that I really don't like (American) football that much. (His favorite team is the Kansas City Chiefs. I really can't figure that one out.)
Back to my regularly scheduled J pop.
Not Much to Report
I guess I feel like I should be reporting some sort of activities, but as such, nothing has really happened lately. I'm still sick. The weather has been crappy in general. You may be thinking, "Why bother?" I guess it's that weird reflex to let people know I'm alive. Much like saying at the dinner table "I'm going to the bathroom." Nobody cares. Just go already. Christ.
Back to more interesting things--tv.
Perhaps...
I am getting over this illness. I feel better, haven`t been coughing as much, and mostly only have a sore throat. Mostly. Perhaps I am on the road to recovery. Not out of the woods yet, but perhaps I will be shortly.
As such, I`ve been more 元気 lately which is awesome. I`ve been able to ぎゅうぎゅう some 日本語 into my head. I have a long ways to go if I want to take 2 kyuu this December. (It`s the 2nd highest level proficiency exam in Japanese and you need to know roughly 1000 kanji and an ass-load of grammar.) Otherwise, I guess I`ll take 3 kyuu (not as high of a level)....I was going over previous tests for 3 kyuu and it was brutual. I wasn`t doing very well, but it still is great to know what I don`t know. (There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. --Donald Rumsfeld)
I keep praying that SMAP will help my Japanese. I love those guys. In fact, I was dreaming that I was talking to Masahiro. HAHAHAHAHA. I didn`t even think that I was watching that much J-tv (and I don`t compared to my friends). I though I had been watching too much "24" lately, but that`s only because it`s been like a fuckin` marathon at my アパアト.
We`ll see how much cramming I can do today. Yesterday, I crammed a lot of the day. So, I need to review and cram some more. I`m feeling better, so it`s possible, but I don`t want to go overboard either.
